Climate Ambition

Prysmian’s climate strategy adopts science-based targets aligned with the Paris Agreement climate ambition. In particular, the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) defines the requirements for an effective Net-Zero strategy:

  • drastic reduction of Scope 1, 2 and 3 gross GHG emissions to a residual level consistent with limiting the average global temperature increase to 1.5°C;
  • permanent removal of residual emissions with nature-based or technology-based solutions.

Our goals

1. Short-term targets

Prysmian commits to reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 60% by fiscal year 2030 compared to the 2019 base year and to reducing absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions by 65% within the same period of time. The Scope 3 reduction has been updated from what was published in the 2024 Integrated Annual Report following SBTi validation, received after the Report's publication, which includes: the restatement of the 2019 baseline with the inclusion of Encore Wire and the update of the emission factors of the power grids.

2. Long-term targets

Prysmian is committed to reducing absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions by 90% by 2035, using 2019 as the base year, and to maintaining this reduction to and beyond 2050.

3. Net-Zero overall goal

Prysmian is committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions throughout the value chain by 2035. Achieving the Net Zero target by 2035 is subject to exogenous factors such as, for example, the decarbonization of the power grids on which we install our products and solutions.
